The Milwaukee Bucks started the 2008-09 season just hours after hiring new General Manager, mgtr81. Even without time to meet, the Bucks started 5-4. There are no clear expectations about the team, and what happens in the first part of the season may affect if the team decides to make moves to contend or look into the future. Shooting guard Michael Redd, expected to be the team's leader, has started the season averaging 22.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game. If Redd can stay healthy, the Bucks may be a playoff team. With Richard Jefferson meant to help in the scoring load (15.6 ppg so far) and the inside duo of Andrew Bogut (17.7 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 2.2 bpg) and Charlie Villanueva (11.2 ppg, 9.1 rpg), the Bucks seem to have a playoff level core of players. The main question in the starting lineup is the point guard spot. So far, Ramon Sessions has been the starter, and with good results (14.2 ppg, 7.4 apg, 5.2 rpg, 1.6 spg), but Luke Ridnour is expected to enter the starting five, due to his veteran leadership. While the Bucks goal at this moment is making the playoffs, the team also wants to develop their young players like Sessions, Luc Mbah a Moute and Joe Alexander. It is still early to draw any conclusions, but the season has started better than expected for Milwaukee. Will they be able to keep track and be in the post-season?
