The Los Angeles Lakers recently agreed to terms with the Philadelphia 76ers to trade away star PF Pau Gasol...here is the complete deal:
Lakers Get:
E. Brand
2009 1st Rd (PHI)
2010 2nd Rd (PHI)
76ers Get:
P. Gasol
2010 1st Rd (LAL)
$15 GM Cash
With some GM Cash and draft picks thrown in to make everybody happy, we caught up with GM of the LA Lakers Brody Sanford to get his opinion on the deal:
The Lakers have stated that thye wanted to trade for a PG if they traded but i guess plans changed...we caught up with E. Brand to see what he had to say:
It has been awile since Elton has been in LA...he had planned on staying in Philadelphia the rest of his career but says he wont mind moving one last time back to LA...lastly we caught up with current Laker PG Derek Fisher:
Well it seems as though the Lakers and its players happy to welcome Elton Brand back to Los Angeles...

We couldn't resist this type of deal...we feel that it was very rare for a team like us to find a deal where we can improve our chances in the future, without sacrificing talent right now so that we can still compete...and we feel we were able to accomplish...Elton brings a defensive presence that will improve an already good defensive team...combined with Trevor and Lamar and Kobe and Bynum....i think we can compete against any offense out there...
Another reason and most likely the main reason for this trade is that we feel our PG depth is weak...and with the crop of PGs delcared for the upcoming draft we should be able to address that need with 2 first round picks...

It feels like a dream...i really enjoyed my time in Philly while I was there, but to be back in LA, with the most storied franchise in NBA history...I just hope that I can contribute to this team and achieve that goal that everyone wants...that NBA Championship!...

We are going to miss Pau...we feel that we could have done great things with that core...but Brand isn't a scrub...he is a star in this league and should do just fine...I believe he can provide so interior scoring to complement Andrew and so vocal leadership as well...great addition...
